What is the largest copper penny hoard that is completely hand sorted? I am assuming that all of the multi ton hoards use ryedales

I'm at about $200 or so, and I only started a little over a month ago.

I actually hand sorted about 20 bags of copper prior to getting my Ryedale.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

I've done quite a bit more than that - and still work hands only. But I am a collector, not strictly a copper miner - so getting my hands dirty is part of the fun.

I'm in the same boat as scott and eboyfudd: collector turned hoarder. Hand sorting is actually working fairly well for me, since I can shoot through a box in under an hour. Surprisingly, the only problem I'm having is finding enough coins to sort.

Does it count if you go out and buy pennies as well as hand sorting?

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

Yes it counts if you've bought some. I have sorted about $550 face value in the last couple of months. After hearing of people having multiple tons on this forum I was wondering if any of them actually did that by hand or if they all used ryedales.

I have done more than $500 by hand. Until I found this forum, I never knew that there was any other way to sort pennies. (Or even than so many people sorted them!)

I've been a lurker on here for a while now an finally decided to join. I sort in my spare time, but so far I have accumulated just under $100.

I sorted 500k pennies and hoarded 130k coppers pre-Ryedale, but I was using a home made sorter so it was not strictly hand sorting.

I think Billsattic sorted much of his hoard pre-Ryedale, and it was a few thousand dollars worth.

As for me I went through about $150 before my Ryedale. I don't know if I would go back to hand sorting if I didn't have it though, it is a bit tedious.

I have hand sorted over 7 figures of US cents.
I sold about 2000 lbs of sorted US cents to a smelter before the ban,
I still have 6 five gallon bottles filled and capped, and 3 or so three gallon bottles.
I am not sorting as much as I used to, I am lucky if I get to do a couple of boxes a month.
