I found 4 computers on the side of the road and i would like to know what everything is worth. If you could list the price per pound it would be very helpful, Thanks Quinn.

| I think I would hook them up to see if any of them work? I say that because my niece gave three computers when they bought new computers she said they were all broken. I hooked them up and two of the three were really bad and without spending money to fix them so I scraped the two. The other was a nice Dell(40 gig or so ), flat screen which only required removing some of the junk games and installing a good virus scanner and it worked great. Several people wanted to but it but I had promised it to my grandaughter. I suspect I could have gotten 150.00 for it easily. The other two I stripped the copper out of the monitors a couple of pounds ea., saved the cpu`s and circuit boards, memory sticks for the gold plated fingers and removed the platters and magnets from the hard drives, I also removed the pins for later processing ( a process I have yet to learn), so the steel parts went into the scrap pile and the plastic goes the recycling. When dismantling the monitors be careful of the red wire attached to the tube as I understand it carries a charge that will bite ya. I got 3.00 per pound for the copper wire but as of now havent sold anything else...Rick |

Rick, I'm living proof that the red wire will bite you. That was the last time I worked with monitors without discharging and using electricians gloves. I'm always careful now. |

years ago I got distracted and unplugged the wrong cable on a tv I was working on. I then grabbed the high voltage line with both hands to unplug it. The set was on a test jig for repair with a wired connector for the high voltage and a volt meter. The set would have been around 15,000 volts at the time. My thumb started working about 30 minutes later.
Still pulling up to 7 lbs. of copper out of 36 inch Panasonic Sony and Mitsubishi tvs |
