I just stumbled across this and think it smells really suspicious. 38 oz. of silver bullion for a starting bid of US $3.22? The only buyer listed under this seller is also brand new, currently with zero feedback. Anyone else think this looks suspicious, and has anyone seen other listings like this?

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Yes! This should be THE topic of the day! I have seen whole silver sets (multiple auctions) that look like they were stolen from Tibetan monks. Beautiful old coins and stamped bars. Way too good to be true for the prices. If you read the feedback, you'll see that the scam relates to the shipping, which I don't think they even list. I think I read that it was over $100.
If anyone else has anything to say, I'd love to hear it.

I stayed away because the country it was shipping from was communist CHINA (with who I have many problems) and I'm skeptical of anything bearing that name.

The high shipping is to get around the ebay fees which I personally don't have a problem with if it is a fair price but that auction just seems too weird.

At one of the local malls there is a vendor selling old Chinese "silver" coins. They are pretty good duplicates of coins from the early 1900s in China (often the 7 mace 2 candareens, but others present as well). Those who are familiar with silver will be able to tell they are fakes immediately (they are light and don't feel right), but those who are not familiar with silver coins may be fooled. They usually go for about $5 for a coin that is supposed to be 27 g of 90% silver.

Not all who wander are lost.

Those sound like the 3 for $2 coins I bought some time ago. They turned out to be steel (unless there is a rare magnetic silver no one has ever heard of before.)

I bought them as novelties so I didn't care if they were real or not.

It's not actually a scam, just trolling for suckers. Silver is a color as well as a metal, and the bars certainly are silver in color. And yes, the shipping is a scam. An honest deal has a fair price and a fair shipping charge. I wouldn't buy anything from China unless I happened to want a nicknack, because that is what they sell there.

A penny sorted is a penny earned!
