Hoard shiny zinc? Nah. Not for me at least. I don't know of any major errors in the 2007 penny production cycle, so going through them one by one would probably be a futile effort. Liberate them at a grocery store or other business that you know goes through a substantial amount of coin. If you turn it back into the bank for a swap, there's no guarantee that you might get it again from an unenlightened teller.
All of the boxes I get here in WI have holes in the cardboard box where you can see and verify if the rolls are present. If the end coin in all of the 50 holes has the same degree of sheen, it's likely a solid box of new ones. I've had to ask for another box only once and the teller wasn't too happy about having to go back to the vault. I'm a good customer of the bank, so I acknowledged her stellar customer service and smiled. |
Here in Wisconsin, we have some of the highest property and gasoline taxes in the US. We're squeezed so much, I have to make my daughter wear penny boxes for shoes. At least she has an endless supply. |
