Contest Update: Current bid is up to $101.99 so far with a little over 5 days left. Looks like some of you are out of the money already. Luke probably had the right idea by waiting to submit his guess. There are currently 16 Watchers on the auction.. 2 of them might represent actual bidders.. LOL.
I think I will drag one of my bags of wheat cents out of the hoard and put it up. I will start a Contest #2 thread with the same prize as soon as I get it listed. |

It was a legitimate guess. It is hard to predict these sorts of things. There will be another contest soon. |

Looks pretty good right now.. but you are off by a penny. There are still 3 days left. Luke still hasn't put his guess in yet. He is probably going to "Price is Right" guess it and get all the upside. 21 Watchers right now. It was up to 22.. looks like we lost one.

I guess it will be as high as I bid it, to give every one on ebay a false impression of the values of these coins and I will sell my small hoard for millions! |

Sounds good moboman. Only one flaw in the plan. The week after an auction does good the market is suddenly flooded. With all those copycat ads yours could get lost in a sea of buying opportunities. |

Hi, I am new to all of this as I just got my two sons that are 8 and 10 interested in coin collecting or should I say hoarding...
My guess is $115 plus the $10 for shipping if you are including that or not.
I just can't believe people are willing to pay over 2 cents for a 1 cent penny. I really need to get my home made copper penny coin comparator/sorter made....LOL

We all are often curious what the current market price is for our copper hoards. From time to time I put an auction up on eBay to test that market. I have decided to try it again this week so I put a bag up on eBay. Here is a link to the details in the Buy/Sell section: You must be logged in to see this link.
Just for fun I thought I would have a contest to guess the closing price. I am going to award an Indian Cent from my meager hoard to the RealCent member that comes up with the closest guess on what the closing price will be. What do you think the current market value of a bag of copper cents is? One guess per person. Guess must be posted by midnight forum time on Tuesday. Edited posts will be disqualified.

Welcome to the forum paroy1224. Good luck in the contest. Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, just buy a Ryedale. If I had helpers like you imagine the # of coppers I could hoard! |

Welcome to the forum Randy. So you are the guy that has been dumping all the zinc I have been getting, huh? LOL Always good to meet another local. There are a couple of other local hoarders that are members of some of my coin clubs. Are you a member of any of the local coin clubs? |

HCBTT, well being a hand sorter I doubt very much I dump that many zincs. I am an addict I would have to say but for all pennies not just copper. Being a coin collector yourself you know the value of some of those early AU zincs 84d-86d. I will get more excited finding one of them rather then a wheat. I also have many errors that I have found that I would not have if I had a machine. I will have to say if I was unemployed or had more time I would jump on a sorter. My sorting is limited to about an hour a day maybe. I have an ad on cl for wheats for sale and always have access to more. Like you I am sure, maybe on a smaller scale, I have hundreds of sorted rolls of both wheats, memorials and a nice collections of OBWs. Always willing to help out a young collector needing a coin to fill a hole. Thats it for now I must go check the press that is running, printing money of course, yea right. |

Hey,
I will guess $122
I think the price is a little higher due to your location. I think some collectors think they are going to get like a 1000 s mint marks out of the bag!

Unbelievable. These are going to go for $110. |

C'mon Tex.. be optimistic.. they could go higher.
Still over 2 days left and we are up to 25 watchers. 1 or 2 of those watchers might actually represent potential bidders. Only 20 of those watchers probably represent potential sellers.. LOL.
Remember, all guesses must be submitted by midnight forum time tonight.
Thanks to everyone for playing. |
