2.90 million (approx) copper pennies. Stopping at 3 million as I am going to silver now - Im hooked. For those curious, that will be 60 10 gallon flexible (not the clear ones) plastic totes filled - each weighing over 300 pounds - plan on downsizing to 5 gallon to prevent hernias. By the way, the copper percentages in Illinois have been between 26 to an incredible 33.5 percent from the last 400 boxes. So, there are plenty more out there :) gonna go through old 82s I pulled when I sorted by hand ( pre ryedale days) for zincs that I might have missed as I am sending them to a buyer. Good luck in your hunts...

WOW! That's mighty impressive, especially since you mentioned many of those were done by eye.
I wish I could get 30% copper, I tend to run about 20%. Can't rightly say I'd be giving up on the sorting so long as there was that much copper out there, but if you are able to find silver in the half's then more power to you.
Have you sold any copper or have you kept all you sorted? |

approx 10 million pennies sorted 2.9 million coppers found hand sorted with helpers = 6 million ryedale approx 4 million ( in 3 months time - thanks ryedale!)
These days my helpers take care of bring the boxes in, unwrapping rolls, AND disposing of zincs. NO BOXES, NO ZINCS, just copper - a hoarders dream I guess I paid 1.40 cents per penny for hand sort - stopped when got ryedale. I paid 1.25 cents with ryedale use. I am not going to sell my ryedale as its been a real asset.
Due to economic conditions, I have decided to get into silver market, as I believe that commodity is underpriced significantly. Also, its good to have diversification in REAL assets (not just on paper). My predictions is that the penny's end is near... maybe 5 years left with the way things are going. So keep hoarding and good luck!

10,000,000 pennies! That's 200,000 rolls! That's the equivalent of a box a day for 4000 days! Wow! |

Fellas, that's $29,000.00 in pennies. That could soon turn in to be about $72,000.00 in copper. That will be a good day when the penny melt ban is lifted. Drinks will be on Bill, in his attic of course. |

Rich is not owing any money to anybody, and not spending what you haven't got." Robert Ruark
