This is my first time of penny sorting. The results are for about a weeks worth of pennies, and it takes me about 3 minutes to unwrap, sort, and re-wrap a roll.

Pennies 25,835
Zinc 21,720 (84.07%)
Copper 3,721 (14.4%)
Wheats 41 (00.161%)
82's 291 (01.126%)
Cu Canadian 57 (.221%)
Dimes 3
Indian Head 1
and one Kuwait coin ;)

Looks like my percentages aren't so good, hopefully they will improve.

That's pretty good work for a week, fast sort5ing Luke.

And a great selection of off coins too, I've found Canadian and Bahamian pennies and once I found 3 dimes in some rolls I got at a drive by bank.

But Kuwait? Indian? That's passing strange.

edit: I've got a strong desire to break open one of the boxes waiting for the Ryedale and start sorting, am I going through some sort of penny withdrawal?

Today I picked out a couple of copper pennies from a change jar at a store and replaced them with zinc. My 9 year old son was embarressed to be with me!

Somebody stop me

Let me correct that. Indian Head.

I told a buddy of mine about my little penny adventure and he is going to try it too. He did the same thing you did, but he went through the whole thing, took out all the coppers and replaced it with a dime. I thought that was hilarious.

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

Wow, that's some awesome sorting Luke. Over 10 boxes! You are outsorting some guys that have machines. Way to go!

I think NotABigDeal has something in his signature line about trading a dime for a bunch of pennies in those trays. Every time I see one of those trays I think of him.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

Those take-a-penny jars are great for coppers around here. I ALWAYS look in them....

Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

I've picked up a copper or two from a take a penny jar before.

Awake, O kings of the earth! Come ye, O, come ye, with your gold and your silver, to the help of my people, to the house of the daughters of Zion, to the help of the people of the God of this Land even Jesus Christ.

I would, but don't want people to think I'm stealing.

Its not stealing. People leave them there. I USUALLY replace with a dime or zincs if I have them. I have never had anyone say anything to me, even if I don't replace them. Remember, to most people, it's just a penny.
