Is there any place other then eBay that I can sell pennies for at least 2 cents each? Also, what can I expect to get on eBay?

Even on eBay you are not assured of getting 2 cents each. Lots on eBay often go for less than that. And then you have to take out eBay fees, and possibly PayPal fees.. so your net is even lower. Also, you would have to talk your parents into listing them since I think you have to be 18 to have a legal eBay account.
I believe you can sell them in the Buy/Sell/Trade section of this forum to other members. I think there is strong interest at about 1.5 cents each. Of course you can offer them there at whatever price you want. One of the most important parts no matter where you sell is shipping. You either need to get the buyer to pay it or you need to include it in your pricing. Generally to make shipping worthwhile you should be shipping between 5000 and 7500 coins per shipment. 7500 coins with packing material comes in at around 52 pounds.. I send shipments of that size out once or twice a week. Also if you are going to be selling them by quantity you need an accurate way to count them. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available. |

You might want to check out local flea markets and see if you can find someone there to work out a deal with.
Or depending on your volume and how supportive your parents are try seeing if they will subsidize you. Just show them the coinflation.com website and some articles from here:

If they are reasonable maybe they will "buy" your copper for a premium and let you free up cash to get more pennies to sort.
Personally I'm going to try and develop a local market by talking to folks, showing them some articles, and seeing if they are interested in investing in copper like people do in gold/silver. It takes a lot less to buy some copper, they will be getting it in a know unit (the penny), and if I can sell it locally it eliminates transportation/shipping/credit/ebay fees for everybody.
Maybe pawn shops will be interested in bartering with them. |

Sorry to hear that Luke, it sure doesn't make things easy for you and your family.
Still, maybe check out some local pawn shops, if they don't know about the price of copper pennies I'd be surprised.
If you lived anywhere near North Mississippi I'd be happy to come visit and buy some copper from you, but if you are too far away the logistics become impractical.
Just keep looking for odd jobs to make a little extra when you can, and convert that to pennies for sorting, and hoard the copper. As the price goes up the profit from selling them even on Ebay will get better and better. |

Craigslist? I see silver dimes, nickels and quarters selling on craigslist all the time. It seems only natural that copper pennies will follow once the price of copper is sufficiently high. |

I hadn't thought about this because I've never visited the site before.
But I've heard that it is as good or better than Ebay for selling things.
I'll probably be putting up an add in the very near future.
Thanks for the suggestion Vinnie! |

It is certainly cheaper. A buddy of mine sold some copper on there. Like anything else, you have to be extra careful about setting up deals there. You don't want to get jumped and robbed like that one guy that was looking to rent a little entertainment from an ad there. |

I figure if I do deals via Craigslist with local people I can meet them for the exchange and save on shipping and any credit fees.
As far as getting ripped off I figure meeting at a public place like a coffee shop or a fast food place would be a good deterrent.
Or better yet in the parking lot of a police station :) |
