Sorry Ive not been around. I lost my dump bank and have not had time. Working full time "Banking hours" and takeing 3 classes at a time. Also Started Prospecting :) Great Fun I'm going to go out and find a few oz of gold:)
But Any way I wanted to stop in and tell you all the other day when I picked some stuff up at the post office. He gave me one of the New Bigger flat rate boxes that ships for the same price!!! Ive not tested how many will fit but its considerably bigger:)
The inside dimensions for the Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Box and APO/FPO Flat Rate Box is 12" x 12" x 51/2" (50% more capacity).
Heres the whole Caption from usps site for flat rate boxes.
• Flat Rate Boxes can be used for both domestic and international shipping:
— Available to anywhere in the U.S. for $8.95
— One rate to Canada and Mexico for $23.00
— One rate to all other countries for $37.00
*20 pound maximum for international shipments
• The inside dimensions for the Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Box and APO/FPO Flat Rate Box is 12" x 12" x 51/2" (50% more capacity).
— Domestic $12.95
— APO/FPO $10.95
— Canada/Mexico $29.95
— Other countries $49.95 • The inside dimensions for the two boxes available are 11" x 8.5" x 5.5" and 13.625" x 11.875" x 3.375". The two boxes are different shapes to accommodate a variety of contents. • The contents of the flat rate box must be neatly contained inside the box with adhesive packaging tape. • The box must close securely and retain its shape when taped with adhesive. • The shape of the box may not be changed or enlarged to fit its contents.
Let's see, if the old box would hold $100 in pennies, then the new box would hold $150. A box full of $100 in mixed pennies (copper and zinc) weighs 60 pounds, so the new box would weigh around 90 pounds. If you managed to pack on full of solid copper it would weigh over 100 pounds. Now that would be getting your money worth from the USPS.
