Had to work today but still managed to sneak in a little bit of sorting.
Sorting Report for today: 30,000 coins - 12 boxes 6222 copper 20 darn dimes - including 11 from 1 box. - Too Bad, So Sad, All Clad. 20.74%
--a few more than I had before..
Got all excited when I found a blank planchet in my copper box.. the last 2 blank planchets were zinc. Sorted as copper and had the ring of copper, but the weight didn't come up right. It weighed 2.7 grams.. Canadian planchet? |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

I hand sorted 9 boxes this week. I deposited the remains of 4 of them. Of that $100, I only deposited $67.77 in zinc. About 32% copper. The other 5 boxes I haven't deposited yet appear to have had about the same yield.
That 32% includes unsorted '82's and Canadians. About half a loose filled CWI box for each. Plus the green mess I mention in another post I haven't dealt with yet, about 8 rolls.
From those 9 boxes I got 101 wheats, 2 indian heads and 2 dimes. |

No copper today but bought one silver war nickel at an antique store for 25 cents. Antique stores can have some great finds as dealers dont always update prices on "junk silver" coins. |
My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

Wow.. that is a lot of pennies Epaphras!
I managed to get 40 rolls of dimes and 40 rolls of pennies.. all CWR at a driveby on the way to work today.
Got some potential good news today at one of my banks that had cut me off. I had to stop off and make a company deposit there today. They asked if I had a personal account there. I said yes, but I don't have any money in it. They asked what it would take for me to increase my personal banking relationship with them. I told them I tend to do more of my banking with banks that get me pennies.. that my standard shipment is 24 boxes. She said "A week?" I told her sure, I like to go through lots of pennies. She said she would see what they could do. If they came through with the standard weekly order of pennies for me I would have no problem moving some of my business there. Their pennies are non-Brinks and the Brinks stuff has been a little bumpy for me lately. |

Haven't sorted yet, But got a $50 bank bag that weighed 31 lbs. All my previous bags weighed less than 29 1/2 lbs. So this one could have 33% or so!!! That is great for me! |

Well, I was out of town for a couple of days and was not able to dump/pick up when i usually do. So I made up for it today. Also, it's hard to keep the monster happy. |

10,000 coins 181 coppers 1.81%
DING! I can weigh the boxes before I open them! (I knew that, now I know I need to!)
Then I got clever and figured out I can weigh each roll and only open the ones that weigh .285 lb or more. But I think what I need is to pick up out of town where they might have coins from customers instead of from Brinks or wherever they get them. My credit union does that, but this batch came from banks around town. |

Yeah, Saul Mine.. I have 2 different scales for that.. one for boxes and one for rolls.
I don't think I am going to get skunked on the pennies I picked up today though. Got a few coins at a drive by of a bank near work at lunch time. 146 CWR pennies 50 CWR nickels 20 CWR dimes 3 CWR Halves 9 Shiny rolls of OK quarters
If I had known they were going to give me this many coins I would of taken in 2 bags instead of 1.. it got kind of heavy. |

Hey Ardent Listener, on your drive buys, do you have an account at the banks you stop at? |
