A coin collector dream machine. Has anyone ever heard of a automated machine that can sort coins ( Canadian, American or who ever ) by the date of manufacture?? A machine speed of one penny or nickel per second --- that,s 1000 coins (20 rolls of pennies) every 16.6 minutes. Do you think you could make a profit using this machine?? wheat pennies or double die struck?? Or will the refiners care about a little zinc or steel in with your copper ?? What do you think?? newbie Canadian

When you say it sorts by date, do you mean it actually sorts by each individual year, or that it sorts pre-1982 and post-1982 by metal content?
There is a video posted on this site by a guy who invented a machine that sorts by metal content. I have never seen or heard of a machine that actual reads the year on each coin. Do you have anymore details or a link?
