Was wondering what everyone has as far as their hoard?Since no one has put their address on here, it should be safe to comment. Does anyone have a Million coppers on here yet?I would think the guys sorting a grand a week should have one hell of alot of them. My goal for 2008 is to accumulate 1 million wheaties!!!!! Also what is the most you have seen?I heard there is a guy in PA with approx. 15 million wheats.I wonder what the big penny dealers on ebay have? Derek

I would say c140cessna has the most.. over 1 million coppers. He and I had a race last year to 3 tons and I sold off way too many of mine so he smoked me. I have certainly seen a lot. I used to be considered a big penny dealer on eBay back when fees were more reasonable. There was a time several years back when I was moving as many as 7 bags of wheat cents a day. They used to back the UPS truck up to the loading dock at my brother's work and unload 30 bags of wheat cents at a time when I would get my shipments from Virg Marshall in Omaha. Ah, those were the days. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available. |

I crossed 1 Million Coppers around Christmas 2007. So far in 2008 I've been increasing my sorting and hoarding pace a little over that of last year.
As of last night (2-23-08) I was at just over 7400 lbs of copper pennies....should be at a full 4 tons by April Fools Day.
Goal: by the end of 2008 = 7 tons total = 2 Million coppers total....trying to add 1 Million per year....ultimate goal is at least 20 tons = one full Semi Trailer weight limit!
There was a guy in Alabama last year that had something like 7 to 10 tons for sale...he bought them from an estate...I called him and we spoke on the phone...he had sold about half of them for nearly copper spot content.
I'm hoarding and holding for a minimum of 5 cents per copper coin....in my opinion, anyone selling right now is working way too hard for way too little. |

I think selling a little here and there is not too bad as long as you are hoarding more than selling. I like buying from different people just for speculation (and to help further my goals. I have yet to sell any and don't plan on any time soon (unless someone wants to give me $100 dollars for a brick). Now seems too soon, seeing you really can't make much off ebay. I thought about going to some coin dealers I know to see if they would interested in buying a brick of dated coppers (all 75's or all 60's). Private selling such as here or other personal exchanges seems to be the "best" if someone is looking to make a quick buck. I, however, need to have a 'nice' size hoard before I start thinking about selling. I think 2009 is going to be the year the market really develops. |

c140,Where the heck would you put 20 tons? That might even reek havoc on a concrete floor, wouldn't it? Also how did you come across talking to the guy in Alabama? Was he on a forum,or when you're that big you just know the other high rollers . Is he still selling them and are they wheats or Mems? Thanks for the info. Derek |
