Awake, O kings of the earth! Come ye, O, come ye, with your gold and your silver, to the help of my people, to the house of the daughters of Zion, to the help of the people of the God of this Land even Jesus Christ. |

Cody, Different things can be a store of value. Personally when I think of the best store of value it is food and water and household items. Once a person has a fairly full pantry (when you shop are you stocking up or replacing things you are out of?) then you have a beginning store of value. After you can provide for your self-family for an extended period of time this way then you may want to consider other investments. After food the the next step would depend on available income. I am trying pennies as I can buy a lot of pennies for the same price as an oz. of silver these days( I have been unemployed nine months-no unemployment comp. and I lived off my pantry and sold my silver to get through these hard times) Thank GOD the price was up. Now the hard part is going to be replacing at these prices. My plan is to build up enough pennies that I might be able to trade up and I will probably start buying small denomination silver dimes and quarters and halves again.

Same here WD as far as the smaller denominations of the 90%.They are readily available, easily definable and if you're buying something small you can give them 5 dimes instead of cutting in half a one ounce bar or whatever the transaction may be. Derek |

I'm with WD on the food. Next the "experts" say you should have 6 months worth of cash in cas of an emergency. I figure that if I collect change (copper penies, silver halves, nickles) at face value and put them away as an investment, I have my six months worth of cash. I could sell them at a premium, or spent them at face value, either way I have my emergency money and can pay the morgage and heat my home.
The discussion about ammo on one of the threads was right up my alley as well. Gardening and having seeds is not a bad idea either especially if the SHTF in a big way. |
