| I smash a copper penny every time we visit a zoo. The cashiers are always willing to look for copper cents for me. |

My girlfriend collects these! She has hundreds of them. We've travelled far and wide to add to her collection.
At the bottom of this website You must be logged in to see this link. you can find a link to locations of pressed penny machines around the world. There're even some in Australia, it looks like.
And if you're going to elongate a penny, make sure you choose a shiny, red copper cent.
One of my few numismatic regrets I have is once having the chance to buy an original World's Columbian Exposition pressed penny from 1893. I passed on it. $10 seemed to high at the time. Now it seems a bargain.
Great post, copperbullion! |

If any key dates were elongated that makes the surviving coins all the more valuable.
Its like the baseball card lament- "If only my mother hadn't thrown out my baseball cards I'd be a millionare today" The trouble with that arguement today is so many save baseball cards and so few get thrown away that there is a glut of cards on the market. The fact so many old cards were thrown away is what makes the surviving old cards valuable, not necessarily their age.
If all the key date pennies survived they wouldn't be worth as much as they are now. |

Thanks for the good read copperbullion. I have been collecting these for a while. I am one of those card carrying members the story refers to. But my membership number is 3600 something.
and now a shameless plug
I am also one one those manufactures. I do not have my own machine, I design and draw the art then send it to a diemaker/roller who produces it for me. There is a lot of competition from the roller machines so I market it completly different than everybody else in the world.
Here is a link to my wholesale website: You must be logged in to see this link.
