What is considered #1 copper?
I have seen it referred as bright or uncoated,but does it have to be a certain thickness?
What is considered #2 copper?
All help is greatly appreciated. :)

| Me personally, I don't think it exists...LOL I've stripped wire, decent size and still get the crap prices for it. This answer eludes me as well and I'd like to hear.. even SEE (Anyone have pics??) of what #1 & #2 are. |

#1 copper is free of insulation, free of any solder or corrosion, and bigger than #12 AWG.
#2 copper is free of insulation, can have solder or corrosion, and can be smaller than #12 AWG.
Some places pay slightly more for "bare bright", which is just like #1, but shiny (ie freshly stripped).
Best bet is to call the yard and ask for prices and definitions. Some places have such a small differential between #1 and #2 it's not worth your time to cut the solder joints out of copper pipe.

| I always put the bigger stuff I have on top, and my yard will weigh it separately as #1. My experience is that if it's bigger around than a pencil, it's #1. |
