I want to buy silver bullion. Who does everybody recommend? Monex? Goldline? US Go'vt Mint? Also, what is a fair mark-up above the closing spot silver price? Any advice is appreciated. Especially who to stay away from.

Check out Bullion Direct for SILVER too. You can buy a little at a time and have them only send you the PMs when you are ready. It's free storage until you are ready to have it shipped.
You can buy (and sell) on their Nucleo Exchange or buy directly from their catalog.

I've bought from both APMEX and Bullion Direct and have never had problems with either. Both are, to me, very reasonably priced. APMEX is usually a little more expensive (but not always), but they have a much wider selection and probably have a little higher quality overall. I do like Bullion Direct's storage option because I don't usually have several hundred dollars to spend on bullion at once. You can buy a few ounces at a time until you accumulate a good amount to save on shipping costs. If you want bullion coins like American Eagles or Canadian Maples, I would say that you are probably going to get them at a markup of around 10 percent, maybe a little less or more depending on the day and the volume that you're buying. Good luck with the bullion! |

Your title specifically mentioned Silver Eagles, so a few places that have ASE's at a good price are APMEX, Bullion Direct, and Provident Metals. No one here knows your budget, but assuming you don't have wads of cash, shipping charges come into play. APMEX has the highest, then Provident, then BD (when you factor in the storage option with periodic delivery). I have dealt with all three companies and highly recommend all of them.

Thumbs up for Provident. Have ordered from them 3 times. I'm a satisfied customer. Eagle prices are very competitive and the service is fast. If your budget is small you can still order from them. They don't have the 20 or 60 ounce minimums. In fact, I think my first order was for under $75 testing the waters, so to speak. You do pay a charge for credit card use. |

AMPEX and BD are both top of the line companies that I would recommend to anyone.
I would also strongly suggest that you look into a local seller. It would have several benefits. The top two are: 1. After a while you build relationships and can benefit you with good prices and help on special requests. 2. It's cash and carry, no paperwork if you want it that way. I can walk into places that I have been visiting for close to a decade and they only know my first name. |

Please never buy anything from Goldline they are basically criminals. Northwest Territorial Mint is good. I can't personally vouch for APMEX but they obviously have a good reputation on this board. |

NWT Mint has a reputation for slow to ship, especially when the silver price moves. You might just go to your local coin shop. |

Thanks- I've not dealt with them before but I'll have to check them out. I'm always looking for silver sources that don't have minimums, as my budget is pretty "minimal." |

I used to order from coloradogold.com when they were the cheapest. I have ordered from tulving.com a few times in the past as well. It all really depends on how much you want. I think you can get a heck of a deal on amark if you want to buy 5,000 of those buggers :) Otherwise Apmex and bullion direct are decent as well. |

oober,
there is a pretty good local shop. And I guess it would be a cash exchange with no shipping charge. It's just that when I sold to the guy two summers ago, before I found this website that educated me on coins, I think he sort of short changed me on a bunch of Morgan and Peace dollars I inherited. The guy is not a rip off. But he's no bargain either, and if I can find a place that people at RealCent recommend, then at least I have something to compare him to. Thanks to all. |

I've been getting a few at the flea market lately. The guy there had some fairly reasonable. Unfortunately I think he's about to go up on his prices. I also catch deals on ebay sometimes. I've found that I have better luck with auctions that end mid week. |
Are you throwing that out? |
