I found my 1st 1976 S silver half.
According to the blue book, only 11 million were minted but they noted that many of them were melted during the early 80's
Are they worth keeping separate from the regular junk 40% silver halves? Not sure how frequently you guys are finding them.

I am still the newbie here, so I can't speak with the authority of the old timers... but I certainly would keep that one for more than it's silver content value!!
The rarity of the coin makes it more valuable to collectors than it's silver content.

1976-S halves come in clad and 40%er varieties. Circulation strike 1976-S are all 40%ers. 1976-S proof halves can be clad or 40%er.  I keep them all. |
