Ok the last few times ive purchased silver bars. I have recieved these "gold flake vials" free with my purchase just wondering if they are the junk I think they are or do they have some value?some I have recived look like gold others i laughed at becouse they look like painted aluminium foil
I would guess that 99% of all the so-called "gold flake" sold on EBay is fake (brass) and the other 1% is questionable. Put a drop or two of 50/50 nitric acid or 10K gold testing acid on a few small flakes and watch what happens. If you get a little fizzing, the liquid turns bluish, and the flakes disappear, there is no gold present. Nitric acid won't dissolve gold, but it will dissolve brass.
Rambo.....mostly i buy from a couple of "will buy gold" shops near me that i have call me when they get a lot of bars and rounds i was surprised how many people are selling huge collections. the gold flake vials came from ebay purchases should of said that in original post
