Can anyone help me id this coin? It feels and rings like a silver coin but I have no idea what it is other than it appears to be arabic. Here are pics of the obverse and reverse.

Thanks

I think you have a 1 Rials from Iran. Just a quick Google search gave me that information, so it may be very wrong.

Good lead Corsair. It is indeed a 10 Rials from Iran. If it's dated 1323-1326 (1944-1947) it's 600 fine silver, for an ASW of .3086 ounces. If it's dated 1333-1344 (1954-1965) it's copper-nickel. If you can't interpret the date, weigh it. The silver years weigh 16 grams. The copper nickel years weigh 12 grams then 9 grams.

Yep. My friend has one of these so I knew what it was right away.

How do you read the date on this thing? Anyone know Farsi or Persian?

The date is below the ribbon.

The image is too blurry to make it out, but it looks like 1323 to me.

I actually found this in a bunch of foreign coins my mother gave me a few years back. Never paid much attention to it until I picked it up the other day and felt how heavy it was. Funny cause there was a 5 Franc Aluminum coin from 1948. Man is that thing light. Just as a note, this is slightly bigger than a US half dollar. I will try to get a better pic of the date tonight.

I think I have one from my visit last week. Actually haven't been to Iran, but I do believe I have one these coins. Will check my large foreign stash this week.
