I found it funny yesterday when I was picking up and dropping off halves and pennies that I had tellers at 2 banks trying to get me to buy $1 coins.
1 teller asked me if I collected them and I said no. She said they get $1k face every 2 weeks automatically shipped to them even if they don't order them.
Another teller asked me if I wanted to buy some $1 coins and I told her no and I had a conversation with her that they really aren't that collectible. She said they got automatic shipments of them too.
Do you guys have tellers trying to sell you $1 coins often? Have you heard of any other banks having "forced" shipments?

Yes, I have tellers wanting to give me as many dollar coins as I want. But only those sorry fake looking tintype coins that are so scratched up they're ms-25s even when they're uncirculated. The design is so sad it looks like it was scribbled on the back of a matchbook with old crayolas. You know... presidential dollars. I'm surprised they don't have a ship ban on them to keep people from deporting the ugly things. |

Seems like it was around February-ish this year that I was asking at banks if they had any of the new cents yet. They actually said we get a lot of people asking for the new dollars but no one looking for the cents. I wonder if they were telling the truth or trying to "give me a hint" that these coins were the ones I really wanted. I still don't have any. I might save a few of the Lincolns... just cause I'm a Lincoln collector... and I lived about 3 blocks from where he practiced law in Lincoln IL :) |

I wish I could get dollar coins. Easy to pay the bus fare.
None of the banks are willing to stock them. And no way I want a whole brick of them directly from the US Mint. |

I get the offer all the time. I just smile and say no thanks. Teller trays seem to be overflowing with them. I know the mint has having a big issue with people who did the direct ship using rebates and would dump them as soon as they arrived. |

I get asked about taking some nearly every time I ask for halves. The banks near me all seem to be swamped with them. The tellers all have plenty of loose ones and usually rolls, too. I turn them down every time. |

I don`t have tellers asking if I want them, I deposited a $1,000 worth and they asked me next time I went in if I wanted my coins back?
I said heck no, they said we are saving them for you. I said then don`t. Thanks Anyway |

I always ask for the large Ike dollars and always turn down the smaller ones.
Wish I had the time to open a coin shop in my city. It is definitely a seller's market. Ike's sell for $3.00 and $50.00 of wheaties sell for $225.00! (that's 4.5x face!) |

Interesting is my favorite teller asked me today if I wanted to buy $1 presidential coins. Someone had turned in about 150. She also had Ikes and halves. I took $40 of halves and found 11 40% Kennedys. I'm going to ask her what she likes persoanlly for a reward for this one.
So what is up with the Ikes? Any value there Sheikh? I'll go back on Monday if there is something worth sifting. |

I live in Tulsa. The coin dealers here a very proud of their coins. It's nuts. I have watched people pay waaaay over Red Book values for coins. There is a demand spike/panic that started in 2008.
Yeah, can you imagine paying $3.00 for a copper-clad Ike???! Not me, brother!
NOTE: Before anyone gets too excited about $3.00 Ikes... That story was relayed to me by one of my closest friends yesterday. They needed an Ike for their kids' school project and had called around the different shops. Let me check it out further before anyone starts packing their bags. I don't bother going into those shops much anymore because they are always too damn high on everything!
These Bozos tried to con me into paying 15 cents for copper Canadians!
I got slack jawed when I saw five $50.00 bags of wheaties laying on the floor behind the counter with $225.00 price tag on each last week, and I know they will sell them! |

Male Bovine Excrement Alert!!
I can buy Ike's for $1.05 NOT $3.00 here. Yeah, some Ikes will sell for $3.00, but common circulation will go for $1.05.
Sorry for the misinformation, folks. My friend is really a good friend, but sometimes they get their facts mixed up. |

Sounds like the best Ike marketing plan I've seen yet.

Huh, who would have thought anything but the 40% silver Ikes had any value? Gonna have to research out the Ikes now. I don't frequent bars but, looks like I should start. |

you can direct ship those dollar coins from the mint, free shipping for a box of $250. I think you can buy by the roll as well for the $ coins, they really pushing them. |

When one of my banks get the new Prez. dollars, they want me to buy a roll of them. Which I do, don't know if they will be worth anything in the future. But they are banked rolled and unserched. |

I like metal more than paper, I just wish we had circulating $5/$20/$100 coins.
It would make checking the cushions for change a lot more exciting! |
