Poll Question:
Do you pull and keep separate the S-mint Memorial Lincolns you find? (1968-1974)
Personally, I have a labeled tube for each.

Yes I put them all in one container together.
This was as close as I could come to a description for my "system". I do keep all of those dates together in a jar, EXCEPT for the 1970S. I keep those separate in a small coin tube hoping that one day my eyes or someone else will tell me that I have found a 1970S Small Date that carries a premium.
I also keep the few S mint mark wheat cents separate from the regular wheat pennies that I find.
Enjoy your coin searches, everyone. |

Hand sorting diehard here. Have a container for each of the following... copper, s-mint copper, copper canaian, Pre-40 wheat, post-40 wheat, and s-mint wheat. Oh, and I forgot, the zincs. Ah...and then there are the zinc hopefuls. (errors and wide/close am's) |

I hand sort. I might look for things like that when I open a fresh box, but after a while I am speed sorting and just straight up looking at dates. I have my 59-82 copper pile, I throw all my wheats in a bag and roll them when I get 50, and I put all my copper canadians in a bag as well. Other than that I dont really have a method to my madness. |

I find so few 's' mints I can't justify a tube. |

It really depends. I hold the some that look stellar, but aside from BU LMC's what's the point to keep them outside the regular pile.

I'Ve been sorting cents for the copper value. Are the S-mint memorial cents worth more? |

I do notice them however only the red ones get separated. The rest go in with the other coppers.

I grew up in Craigsville(Nicholas County) graduated from Richwood High School. Then I lived four years in Huntington while attending Marshall University; then Morgantown for 6 years for more school and some work in Fairmont. Now I am “back home” in beautiful Nicholas County living in Summersville.
Where are your ties located?
BTW once a mountaineer always a mountaineer.

Nicholas is great - I've been on the lake. Family roots in Greenbrier Co mostly - I grew up in the Charleston area. Family farm in Summers also.

I put all my S mints in a seperate container. When I looked through them about half of them are 1974. I too am a Mountianeer. Not from there, just went to school there. |

I keep all my AU/BU's together, unsearched so far. There may be a fair number of S mints in there, but I won't take the time to search them until I am no longer able to source boxes from the bank. However, I doubt that they will ever fetch much of a premium unless you have a full roll, at minimum. |
Hoard now and hold on!
