Earlier today, I came across a 1975 D cent. However, this one had an unusual marking above the date. It is a rounded box with two rounded triangles enclosed in it. Looks like an upside-down flower.

Anyone come across one of these. Haven't found a picture online yet. If I can scan it, I'll attach it.

Not sure if this is common, or stamped by one of the cent's prior owners, or what.

Thank you!

I would assume it to be stamped, which wouldn't make it rare because anyone can do it.

That almost sounds like the BATMAN counterstamp cent I found. Hard to say for sure without a picture.

I looked at examples of the Masonic counterstamp, and that is not it.

Here is a sketch of the stamp. For all I know, it could simply be a stamp someone put on it for fun.

Darn, how do you insert images from your computer on here? I hit the "insert image" button, and inserted the target file, but nothing.

You have to upload the file to somewhere on the internet, like photobucket or something. Then you use that link and put [.img] and [/img.] around it (without the periods)
