What % of spot can you typically expect to get from a dealer when you sell your silver?

hi all, if a dealer is honest he will pay at least 30 TO 30%below spot on silver coins as he has his costs he could sell 10% over spot this makes his profit at 40% i could be wrong but this the way it was PEACE!!

It's a pretty broad question but I would think it would be determined by the product, quality and quantity of what you are selling. 500 ounces of silver is going to offer more negotiating power to the seller than 5 ounces would, just as Silver American Eagles would be better than generic rounds or "junk". More and better product, will also open up the pool of dealers who would be willing to spend time talking to you about purchasing.

Sounds like it might make more sense to sell to APMEX, or a similar buyer.

Its not as easy to put prices in % of spot, but a good idea for a local dealer to buy .999 silver rounds or bars who would pay with cash should pay $1 behind spot when you sell to them. American Eagles and some other bullion (Govt issued, Engelhards, etc) should net you spot if not slightly more. Large amounts of silver will get you an even better price because it allows the dealer to make more profit.

Expect 10-11x Face from a dealer for 90%. 40% Halves are closer to 3-4x face. War Nickels, Foreign stuff, low purity, and scrap silver items take dramatic hits in price- dealers might pay 20-40% below spot for these items.

Remember dealers must pay the bills and turn a profit- but with no shipping/fees and cash and carry its a okay deal. If you sell directly to a buyer like thru this site or Craigslist spot is achievable.

A more specific amount and kind of silver can give you better results here.
