I just won two auctions, winning bid $0.01 each, total with shipping came to $15.00.

My question is this--assuming that these are in fact genuine sterling silver (I'm skeptical, since they're coming from China, but the sellers both have good ratings), and bearing in mind that we don't know the exact weight, what are your opinions of whether or not I'm getting ripped off? I'll let you all know what they weigh when they arrive in a couple of weeks. Thanks!

did you read the negative feedbacks?
"Should not be allowed to get away with this, its so wrong"
"Shockingly poor quality - item certainly not sterling silver as seller described"
"Very cheap almost plastic, better in crackers"
They mass produce, make money from the shipping charges. You get what you pay for. Never buy from Chinese sites. |
Hoard now and hold on!

Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

Yeah, I kinda wondered about that too. Seems reasonable to assume that with a farm of computers and cheap labor it wouldn't be too hard to create a "genuine fake" profile of feedback.
And I've been to China, so I didn't enter these bids unaware--kind of like when I knowingly bought counterfeit trade dollars off a street urchin in Manila. This is more of an academic exercise on my part, and the 15 federal reserve IOU-Nothings I spent is merely a cost of doing business. Thanks for the quick responses! |
