BUGS..bugs you don't want anywhere near your home. So I picked up a load earlier today a friend of a friend helped me set up. the guy had a bunch of aluminum poles for a giant tent, maybe 300lbs of steel from a childrens playset, an air conditioner, 3 cars batteries, a big aluminum radiator, copper pipes galore. I was a happy camper, and the guy I got the stuff from was happy cause I cleaned out his backyard.
Now, I got back home and started cleaning stuff..I crowbarred the cover off the a/c and saw one of the most disgusting things i've ever seen..must of been 200 little roosterroaches..scattering in every direction..centipedes, millipedes even earwigs..those weird beetles with pincers on the back of them they look like mini tree-skidders. I, of course screamed in horror like a small girl as I was about..15' away from the back of my house.
I had to think fast..I need to keep these bastards AWAY from my house at all cost..I fired up my pressure washer as quickly as possible and sprayed them away, and made a moat to deter them further. then sprayed out all the other scrap i'd be handling because i'm that scared of bugs..but Just a word of caution guys, be careful when your metal/money is mixed with regular garbage..

I had this happen recently.I was scrapping out a huge TV,and when I finally got the thing open,it was full of both dead, and alive earwigs, and spiders. I was scrapping on my porch,so I wasn't really to concerned. They all headed for the grass away from the house. |

Great story.. and an excellent warning about being careful what you bring near your house. Imagine if some of dem little bugs got in the house.. and the better half figured out where they came from.. could be the end of somebody's scrapping career. |

| That is why I keep a can of insect killer when I start taking apart washers, dryers and AC units that have been standing out in a yard or field for some time. I have gotten a couple that have had live black widows in them. Needless to say I ALWAYS used the heavy duty gloves when working on them. |

| LOL, the last time I saw a grown man run and scream like a little girl is when we lifted a wooden top of a wellhouse. A great big spider came running out and my buddy took off screaming. I laughed so damn hard, but it wasn't funny to him. |

| Funny post. I was confused for a second by your mention of "roosterroaches" but then I remembered about the forum's censoring software. I'm not sure if the moat strategy will be effective or not, from what I understand all those critters seek out moisture. Putting that insecticide gel by anywhere they could get in the house is an option but you want to be very careful with it, nasty stuff. |

| I've opened several TVs and Monitors to see roaches scurry everywhere. Fortunately my shed is a ways from the house. |
Are you throwing that out? |

Well you're a stronger man than I am! If I'd seen a black widow..i'd still be in the hospital for a heart attack or post traumatic stress disorder. |

worse than a Black Widow is a Brown Recluse spider. I have been bit 53 different times by them. most have been minor, doctor cut them out, but I did have to have surgery on my arm for one. the doctor cut a 3 inch diameter hole all the way to the bone to get all the gangreen out, he then put something on the bite that made my flesh and skin grow back up the normal highth of my arm, all I have left from it now is a large white spot.
the next time I was in the hospital 4 days, I did not know anything about the 4 days until my brother told me how long I had been in the hospital.
my doctor told me in the south consider all snakes and spiders poisionous. He said he had green grass snakes that peope almost died from.
he said any spider is poision, because they are in bread with each other.
