Hi i just realized how many things people are giving away for free on craigslist, in my area there are 5 free humidifiers, 10 free dishwashers, a free safe, free air conditioners, free trees, free washing machines, 3 free organs (the music type) is any of this worth scrapping?

AC units are very good for scrapping. Anything with an electric motor will usually have some copper and or cords. |
Are you throwing that out? |

would the dryers be worth it to just pick up and haul straight to a place to scrap? |

If you are only taking one then you very well might end up spending more in fuel than you would get. I wait until I have several before I do, and that is after I remove the wiring harness. |

Most any large appliance is worth scrapping. The only one that the yard I take my stuff to will not take is dishwashers, as too much of the content in those is plastic. My favorite is AC units, either windor or central. Mainly due to the copper tubing and the aluminum/copper cooler. I routinely look in the free section of craigslist, and even have an ad in the services section saying I will haul off appliances for free. I have gotten a couple of decent hits off of this ad, and there is no charge for it. |

In reference to aluminum copper cooler, do you seperate the copper from that or just take it all at once. I've been hacking the snot out of an Al.Co cooler to get the copper tubing and separating it. I want to get all the copper I can. How much of a difference if you leave it intact? |

I leave them intact. Last time I took any in it was about $1.50 a lb. |
Are you throwing that out? |

The vast majority of the people leave the copper and aluminum together. If you were able to weight the copper and aluminum separately and add up the price, then compare that to what you get for it together, it would pretty much average out. It is definitely not worth trying to separate. |
