4th roll from a $25 box from a new source bank. Popped right out by itself as if to say, "Ta Daa! Here I am."
1898 and a bit grimy. About VF or so.

It's not about price... alot of the coin finds that we brag about here, oohing and ahhing, could be had for less than a dollar on ebay. What it's about is the immense satisfaction of the hunter, having stalked his prey, for months... even years... over countless hills and mountains, through valleys and canyons, never losing sight of his quarry, never losing hope, remaining optimistic and determined... until he finally captures the sight of this proud magnificent beast in the reticle of his scope... and with one twitch of his index finger exerts pressure on the trigger and sends flying a deadly copper-jacketed missile through it's furry little heart. That exultant moment of "I did it! I finally did it!" can never be experienced by someone who merely buys coins instead of capturing them from the wild. |

Its funny, a few months back I got my mom into sorting pennies. She took to it quite quickly and was getting a few rolls from the bank. She hit her first indian head less than one box in. I've only found two ever |
MOVING SALE!!! Selling Copper Cents 1.4 shipped - in limited quantities PM me and we'll talk. |

I have to admit that I'm riding a wave of beginners luck. I just started hand sorting last week. I've been doing a $25 box a day. I think whats working in my favor is my location. I don't think there's a lot of folks paying any attention to their change. And a lot of kids don't really care that much. But, with that said I still have not found any silver yet.
And it is the thrill of the hunt, I can get IH's at my local coin shop all day long.

Congrats on getting that first Indian BadKarma. Keep your eyes open.. they often come in 3's. I really like Beaunaderos' description of the thrill of the hunt. It aptly describes the rush of finding your own rather than just buying a few rolls of Indians at a coin show. You guys have motivated me to kick up my searching another notch.. I know my next Indian is just around the corner.. maybe in the next 100,000 to 200,000 coins. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available. |

We've had this conversation before, in other threads... but it's pretty much the consensus of forum members that the economy is causing people to let loose of their stored up change that nearly everyone has tucked away here and there, kinda "well, sure... it's old, but what good is it doing me? I gotta eat, git mah smokes, and pay fer another six pack, rahgt? And then, kids don't know the value of old coins and innocently spend them, and then there's always thieves... so these older coins are continuously making their way back into circulation. The same thing likely holds true for silver, in particular the grungy 40%'s who can sometimes blend in very well with the clads. Good luck on finding some BK. Where you located? |

Good job on the Indian. It took me forever to find my first, but once I found it it kinda opened up the flood gates. I've also had better luck finding them in bags. Not too long ago I found one on the end of a Loomis roll. Check it out: You must be logged in to see this link. Pretty cool really.
In my part of the mighty Mo, Canadian is very common. More Canadian than wheats most of the time.
Keep up the searches!

I think our previous numbers, correct me if I'm wrong, beauanderos, were about 250,000 lmc-1 ihp.
I think you beat the odds mauk.
Congratulations. Sometimes, good things happen to good people.

Actually, last time we ran a similar thread alot of people seemed to be striking about every 100,000 or so. They do come in waves. I was down to finding one about every 50,000 but it's been six weeks now since I've spotted a scout. Maybe I'll go watch Dancing With Wolves and lick my wounds. Just think, a hundred years ago the hand sorters were whining about never finding any 1877's or Flying Eagles |

You got to remember though.
The guy who scored 9 in 2 boxes skewed the stats. |
