I sold some stainless steel this last Saturday, and noticed on their board that tin was a 110 a ton, down from 130 a ton a couple of weeks ago. I know it has to do with supply and demand, I just wonder where it will bottom out at. I no long take in partial loads, I wait until my flatbed is full now.

yep. Last year it was $100.00 a ton. This year best I got was $170.00 with the prices going down you find more steel as not everyone wants to bother with it.

I got 180 a ton at the peak earlier this year. I will still accumulate it as a full flatbed load will still pay, plus the copper, brass, aluminum and wiring harnesses I separate off the appliances is icing on the cake. Continuing to hoard the non-ferrous and dump the ferrous as I get a load. At least with a flatbed I have a place to store the ferrous without making my place look trashy.

Tin is around $8.80 a pound. Steel, on the other hand, was $220 a ton the last time I was to the yard in June

I would venture to say that if you checked again that steel would not be 220 a ton now. Otherwise it is plummeting everywhere else but your area.

Yeah, I haven't been there since (got 0.11/pound on 6/19) and I was surprised it was that high then.
