I can across a man in a bank who saw me returning coins and immediately started joking about the amount of coins i had to return. The teller who was helping with the machine also joked about the frequency that i'm returning coins.
Anyways the guy immediately pegged me for a coin collector and told me he had about $10 face of silver coins. Mostly walkers barbers and merc's.
Not knowing the condition of these older coins, would 12xface be too much to pay for potentially worn coins? Basically is this asking price too high for cull coins even if they are old?

That sounds about fair for unknown condition coins. I would try to find out more about them before making a offer though, or ask him what he wants for them and try to get a better idea on the condition of the coins and how many barbers are in the lot. The barbers will command a higher preimum over the mercs and walkers, I just sold a $3 face lot of average condition common date barbers for $60, thats 20x face. |

12xface all day on walkers and barbers.....what are you thinking? On one really nice coin you might be able to make that purchase pay for itself. My area I get paid per face not weight or wear. Must be different on who you deal with. |

Sounds like a fun deal none the less. Not too much for an investment. Worst case scenario you'd be down $10 or $15. Best case scenario you'd be up $50 or $100.
I'd go for it! |

do the BU rosies anyway. The ASE's are just retail. But the BU rosies may produce some better dollar coins. |

What is a good deal for ASE's UNC 2009? I would have thought that $20 a piece is a great deal... |

REALLY? For one ASE, sure $20 tax free may be nice.
But if he's selling you a roll there is no reason you shouldn't be able to buy them for $380 or $390. He certainly won't get anymore for them than that if he sells them elsewhere.
Granted, silver jumped up a few cents since my post, but nevertheless.... |

What is the lowest you could get for ASE's today? that's exactly why i wasn't all that tempted to buy them. |
