I know this isn't copper related but i didn't know where else to post it and i really want your guys input. From what I can tell old bills in good condition are worth a lot over FV. Would it be a good idea to put away a few sheets of $1 from the past ten years or so? Think about the last time you got a bill from 1980 or maybe even 1990, not often at least for me, because they are used up so quickly and taken out of circulation. In my opinion $1 bills would be the best to do this with since those usually have the shortest life span in the wild, do you think this is just a waste of time or a potential money maker? thanks
Not unless they are star notes. The mintages are just to high. Even go back to 1963 $1 notes and they aren't worth much. Highest being $32 for a star and $9 for a non star and thats in UNC-63
I mean you could get lucky and get like a 1981 Dallas start note worth $1250 or 1985 St Louis star worth $1350 or 1988 Atlanta Star worth $1400 or 1988 A Atlanta star worth $1400. Thats basically it from 63-now for $1 notes.
I think your money is better of someplace else...but thts just my 2 cents.
Also there is a numismatic section so it could have gone there :)

Just because a guidebook says it's worth that much doesn't mean someone is willing to pay such a price.
Look at certain Web Note auctions on eBay. Web Note B-L block from the Series 1988-A is worth up to $1300 in uncirculated condition according to the books. Now look at the auctions. Starts at around $10.

Yes, I know this. I wasen't saying you will get that for it. I was just mearly pointing out that out of the last 47 years there are only like 4 $1 regular circulation notes that are worth anything....
this would not have been a good strategy in weimar germany.
Although a nice complete set of Germans bills from throughout the entirety of the Weimar hyperinflation would be something to admire... and might be worth a pretty penny. Never seen one marketed anywhere. I've got the stamps tho
