This new symbol was selected for the Indian rupee. I personally think it looks pretty sharp. It will start appearing in the near future.

The new rupee symbol resembles the ancient Egyptian Eye of Horus, but backwards:

It is a mix of the Roman "R" and some Hindu letter, both representing the first letter of "rupee".
