I have just been picking up rolls of halves whenever I drop of nickels or pennies at the banks. Today, I asked my Chase bank that orders my nickels and pennies if they would order me halves. She said they have a list of coins that they are allowed to order and said that it was not on their orderable list.
I asked her why but she didn't really seem to know. I told her it must be because they don't use them much and don't want to get stuck with them????
The only reason I thought about ordering was today I was at two different banks and both told me they had just sold all their halves earlier in the AM. I must have some stiff competition.

I tried to establish an order with Chase for halves as well, and got the same run around. Also found that that particular bank was a dump for someone else's halves. So that's probably why they wouldn't order for me. They've done sporadic $500 penny orders... just no halves.

From my experience there are probably about 60-70 halves searchers to every one of us out there. Heck I know of 3 from this forum and treasurenet that are in my same city. And that doesnt count the ones I have run into while at line in a bank

That sucks AG to have that much competition. I fear the day someone in my area starts to sort pennies. Right now i'm basically using every resource available to my benefit. But it would take just one other sorter to successful ruin my little coin operation.
I liked to think i was the only major sorter of halves when i was living in VT . I've been effectively taken out of the half dollar market now since the skunks are so common.
