Is there any market for these here? I have access to about 125 old and I mean OLD computers. All have at least 1 drive. I didn't want to haul it home if I can't move them.Any info would be very helpful.

There's a place close to me that pays $ .35 a pound for old computers. They pay higher if you take them apart and sell the pieces by the pound. Some sample prices: Hard drives = $.70 a pound, mother boards and cards = $2.80 a pound.

At a minimum, you should remove the processors and the memory. They sell for a small fortune on Ebay.

I think SilverSaddle is the real expert on this. If he doesn't chime in, check the Scrap forum on Treasure.net and look for some of his posts on the subject.

don't know if Computer Jones has been on in a while, but he too deals with them.

And I can't remember who the member is that will buy them for refining himself.

But how much they would pay you? I don't know.

I have a few hard drives laying around. I took one apart to see what was inside. The one I opened was just a disc about the size of a CD that had a mirror finish. I think the bottom of the case is cast AL, but other than that I don't know.

Are you throwing that out?

Here I am!

Yes, the older the better!

Here is a basic price list of computer parts and current prices

PCB's (motherboards, cards, risers, etc.) $3.43 per pound
Whole hard drives .70 per pound
ceramic CPU's $36.00 per pound
fiber CPU's $12.00 per pound
unclipped power supplies .30 per pound
insulated #2 copper .70 per pound
gold edge memory $8.00 per pound
tin edge memory $3.43 per pound
Heat sinks .73 per pound
floppy drive, cd drive .07 per pound
steel case $140.00 per ton

Those are local prices her in Western Iowa.

You could make much more on the CPU's on E-bay if they are the ceramic type. Research it.

How old and what type of computers are these?

Please keep in mind those prices reflect gaylord type box amounts. Your prices will vary.

It's a pallet-sized heavy cardboard box. Something like this, but usually they stay on pallets.
