If you get whole rolls of them or whole boxes of them, you can keep those and try to sell them, but the individual ones don't have much value because there are SO many of them. Welcome to Realcent! |

if you can afford to hold some, i would do it. It never hurts to hold a couple dollars of near BU coins. However if you can find entire rolls of these coins just hold them and return the circulated ones. I make a point to hold a certain number of each new year, and then swap the loose finds if i find whole rolls.
Also if you find more than you want to save, then sell the rest on here or ebay or where ever. Complete rolls and full boxes have to still sell at a premium somewhere this early in the year.

If you get full boxes SELL THEM! I would not keep any of them. The mintages are not low enough for them to be worth anything. |

I'm not too sure about that....I currently have a sealed, full box of 2010P shield cents. I have been unsuccessfully trying to sell it for nearly 3 weeks now, and am about ready to give up. |

To be fair, you're asking $65 for a box. I bet if you dropped that some you'd get a taker. |

I would get a roll or even just fifty of them just for my collection, but they will only be worth face value loose or have a slight premium if you get rolls or boxes of them. |

I was happy to get them back a few months ago! I sold one or two boxes on here and ebay. But it sounds like there are a lot out there! |

Those shield pennies must be clumped in areas--some too many and others none-at-all. I live in mid-Minnesota and there have been no shield pennies to date. Nobody even knows there is such a thing. As one of my "little ones" put it, "We just get the booger ones!" She is right--no new ones, just dirty ones, and the copper has dropped considerably. Time to move the whole gang to another state!!LOL |

I was dumping rolls last night...the String boxes were marked May 2009....almost every roll had at least one 2010 shield cent in it. I guess their date stamp didn't roll over to 2010. Unusual? |

I can't tell you the last time my penny boxes had the date stamped on it. All of mine just carry a four digit number and that's it.
For me I saw a couple boxes with large numbers of shields and many others without a single one. It depends on where you are located i guess and how much coin you happen to be sorting. |

Is it "5441"? That's what mine are stamped with. |

Just went to the 2 banks here this morning but they still only have the 2010 Shields. For weeks that is all there is except the few CWR. I do buy bags at a town 22 miles away but they too are full of the new 2009 and 2010. Sort of disappointing as far as sorting goes. Anyone need Shield Cents we have all you need here. |

I sure feel sorry for all you guys getting those darn new 09 and 10 pennies. They only bring 2 - 5 times face. I have been trying to get new pennies at my supply banks for the last 18 months. I haven't seen a new box of pennies since mid 2008. The only way I have come up with any 09's or 10's is to buy them, and yes I paid too much. |

Yo ND...if I find a good box of new pennies I am sending them to you.
I have only found 20 brown paper rolls of the 2010's. |

I've found 3 or 4 so far, and I don't even date search- just pull dimes with nice new edges. |

Would anyone here be interested in 2010 pennies that are found loose? I'm finding a decent amount of them, but nothing even close to a full roll of them. |
