Sometimes silver pops up in the least expected places. My wife was at a local Goodwill store and bought this set of coins encased in acrylic for $1.95

There all from Newfoundland, and the coins featured are:

- 1917 one cent
- 1917 25 cent
- 1907 50 cent
- 1912 20 cent
- 1941 10 cent
- 1943 5 cent
- 1942 one cent

I'm certain that the 1917 25 cent and the 1907 50 cent are silver. Are any of the others? Also, she wants to bust them out of the holder - is this worth it or should she just leave them in there? Thanks!

That is a nice find. It pays to go to goodwill. I bought dateless Standing liberty quarters at my local goodwill a couple of years ago. It was half off day originally they were $3 got them for $1.50 each :)

it's up to you, but it wouldn't surprise me to see that pull $25 on ebay if left intact. Nice find, wifey! (does she have any single sisters?

Hoard now and hold on!

She's good about checking for cheap brass for me to scrap And the half off days are great, PLUS they do military discount on Thursday's.

I told her to leave it alone. At first she wanted me to go at it with a 3lb. engineers hammer but I put the kibosh on that real quick. No sense in mangling it up, just resell it as is. As for the sisters, yes she has 2 younger ones, but considering she is 22 herself... well you get the point.

5c (.0350 ASW), 10c (.0701 ASW), 20c (.1401 ASW), 25c (.1734 ASW), and 50c (.3504) are all .925 Sterling SILVER. Depending on condition, which I cannot see with this photo, the early dates will have numismatic value also.
