Went to another craft store this past Saturday evening, imagine that!
As I was receiving my change the cashier looked at the change in his hand and said, oh you won't want that penny it's Canadian. I said sure, I'll take it.
Well, it wasn't Canadian. Right Sovereign, wrong country. Correct color, wrong size. It turned out to be a small coin, probably like a one cent coin, from the Cayman Islands. The reverse has a nice design with a bird on it.
Guess he was shocked that I would want a foreign coin. He's not one of us!
Enjoy your coin searches, everyone.

Thank goodness he isn't one of us and that not many people are. It gives us more opportunities to have cool little finds like that and really great finds like silver in change! |

Good catch. Some banks and credit unoins will give away their non-US coins for free. Try and ask them. I have a few that hold them for me. Costs me chocolate every now and then. Fair trade.

Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

| I noticed that Canadian coinage is shunned down south. Up here in Ohio very few take notice of even a Canadian quarter. |

It's surprising that the clerk even noticed. It's even more surprising that they gave you a choice after they noticed something different.
BTW, I got a 90% dime in change a couple of weeks back. I did not report it here but it is quite a rare occasion. |
