While falling asleep last night I thought of a change to the classic idea of using different shades of pennies to create a picture. I was thinking (this may have done before) of making a picture of a penny out of pennies. But then I took it one step further (I doubt this has been done before) instead of just creating a front or back picture of the penny, which is hard enough to find the right shade, but instead create a 3D (I know it's already 3D but you know what I mean) picture of BOTH sides of the penny using only ONE layer of pennies set between 2 sheets of glass. To do this I would need to find a penny that has the right shade on BOTH sides of the penny to create the right image (Lincoln bust or memorial) on the right side. I think this would be a great challenge and of course I would use only coppers.

Hey, I may be just 15 but I think I know quite a bit about investing. For example, I was telling my parents about my goals to physically have at least one ounce of gold and 10 more ounces of silver by the end of summer. Their argument was "Yea but when you want to sell it you can't" I asked why not? and they said "Because nobody will want to buy it!" The rest of the conversation was just so frustrating!

I don't have the time to do that but it would be sweet! People say that about my hobby: "Better than watching TV" or "There are worse things he could be doing." Great goals and keep striving for excellence. We need more young people that are knowledgeable in society!

Great goals! I think all of us would encourage your parents to take a look at this forum.

Kiwi-

Sounds like a great challenge. I'd love to see how you'd go about attempting it, and of course, the resulting product. As a teenager myself, I know we can accomplish what we set our minds to, especially those of us smart enough to join RealCent.

Best of luck to you.

Getting the toning on both sides to line up just right would be extremely difficult. I have a lot of pennies, and I don't think I have enough to do it. What might be better is to have obverse snd reverse side by side in a frame. Another problem with the coloring is that toning on copper changes over time.. what is bright red at one time can turn red/brown and then brown over time.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

I think those are great goals. With consistent hoarding, I think you could definitely reach your goal by the end of summer.

Getting the silver and gold lined up will be worth more than the penny portrait. As for your parents... show them our buy and sell area and a little place called eBay where PMs sell every day (not suggesting using eBay to sell though). You will go far by starting young and your goal to get PMs is way better than what most kids spend $ on.
