i was in a cu buying coins , when the lobby coincounter machine filled up and they had to empty it.

i had not seen one that just did mixed coins, all others in the area sort to denomination.

since the manager was doing the serving i asked her if i could buy the bags. she said sure. ouch. unfortuneatly they are around $400 each and there were 5 of them. she let me look at the 'slips' that showed the count. all of them were mostly quarters. yuckkkkkk.

also, the gent that was using the machine, commented to me that it would not take two coins..... a 1965 quarter, and lo...... a 1960 dime. i offered him a buck for the dime. which he took.

so, i know that the machine , rejects silver. hence, the chance of silver is about ,nil.

what would you gents do.???

I have never seen a machine either that mixes the coins. With the information you have provided I guess I would pass on them. If it does reject silver and with all different coins mixed together you couldn't edge check. Seems like it would be a lot of extra work.

COPPER - the "poormans" precious metal!!!

SELLING - $100.00 face copper shipped to you for $189.00 machine rolled or bagged - PM me if your interested.

The Scan Coin machines that TCF uses in my area mixes all the coins. It uses a lockable metal box on wheels, no bags.

Seeing as how you know for a fact that it rejects Ag, I would pass on them.

yes , with the absince of silver , and so many quarters, it seemed like it would not be worth the effort

I would not be so sure that it rejects silver. Silver dimes are rejected because the "spread" on the calibration of the machine for dimes is very very tight because they don't want to accept Canadian dimes.

I would guess if you put a silver half dollar in the machine would take it.

Charles, as part of your offer to buy the bags (and save them shipping/pick up costs) you might wish to ask them if they'd allow you to conduct a simple test, and if so... then drop a silver half, quarter, and US dime thru and retrieve them if they weren't rejected. But it does seem like a lot of trouble. Good luck, let us know what happens

Hoard now and hold on!
