it seems as though the amount of new threads and new posts fall severely when copper spot price is getting hit.perhaps a little loss of interest?panning down the threads on this page you will see that most of the threads have not had a new reply in days, nor is there any new threads started to give us all something to ponder.

Today is the tomorrow we worried about yesterday.

I have noticed that there have been fewer new threads lately, and I follow the metals prices closely, but I had had not put enough thought into to see a corrilation between the two. However I think you have something. Perhaps a little less enthusiasm with lower prices especially on the part of the newbies. Some of the members who have been here for quite sometime may get burned out and need to take a break from the forum or sorting. There is a core group of true believers, who even if they take a break believe and will be back.

It doesn't matter to me whether copper goes up/down short term...I'm in for the long haul. I think you do have something there. I have noticed the low activity but didn't put 2 and 2 together.

"Just sort more!"

With the Holiday weekend and warm weather here, many folks are busy with other pursuits. Although metals typically trend down during the summer, I think the time of year is also a factor.

I would have to agree with that beautiful weather sends folks outside and away from the computer. Now...if someone would like to buy me a waterproof laptop I will be more than happy to post numerous threads throughout the day while I sit by and in the pool! Ha!

It could be synchronicity.

It's all my fault. If I get busy with other pursuits.. or doing bank runs.. or sorting.. and don't get in my quota of a few hundred posts.. it just seems slower.

I would have to place myself firmly in that core group of true believers. Just keep sorting and adding to the hoard for when there is no longer any copper available.. and the price is right.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

Hey, I just added one more $25 box of rolled copper! Hand rolled of course. And for me, without a Ryedale, one box is a pretty decent accomplishment!

SO I'm still interested, but will be doing far less sorting this summer. Though, as I get some extra cash I may stock up a bit on unsorted rolls! ;D

Gratz wolvesdad. I just fired up the Rydale Ace on NDFarmer's 1,000,000 pennys post. However, still find I have to hand sort the CU as my kitchen table is anything but level and shims to help. Otherwise, I have hand sorted too. Working on my 3rd box now. 2 month holiday in CA in 10 days so, hoarding now while I can. Hey any RealCenters in the OC CA area? Would enjoy making contact while we are there.

I have witnessed this behavior in lots of different things:

Sports- The champions always get the TV time and their fans are always buzzing with the latest news and post game commentary. But a losing team gets no press, and the fans hide their faces as they leave the stadium. The conversation is either diverted away from the team or filled with expletives when the losers are brought up.

Stock Market- In 2005-2007, when a bull market was reaching its crescendo, message boards, forums, and blogs were abuzz with stock touting, fundamental and technical analysis, predictions, systems, and general chatter. Everyone was making money and the general moods was happy. But after the market turned down in 2008, the crowds disappeared, the chatter decreased, nobody would try to analyze a stock, systems were broken; people were depressed.

Housing- I think you get the idea by now, but do you remember all the water cooler conversations about housing values, speculating on property, and developers working with the average Joe? That sure turned around once Bear Stearns died and housing price got cut in half.

What it all boils down to is this: people avoid pain and seek pleasure. It hurts to talk about losses, so people avoid it. They would rather move to a new subject or retreat altogether. But a savvy investor can use this to his advantage. Just take a good look at this chart:

All you have to do is decide where any market is along this chart and make a decision as to whether you should be increasing or decreasing your position.

Happy Sorting!!!!

It may not be just the markets. This time of year is very busy for me. I miss out a lot each summer, but when I have time to refocus on the markets they are starting thier climb.

Silver Monometalism is the most permanent and stable form of money the world has seen. Natural law and history prove silver value is best multiplied by gold and best divided by copper. It is only in this counterfeit currency time when the natural law appears suspended.

Nice chart, MH. I think we are currently in the "hope" stage of the chart. The sheeple are "hoping" the economy will get better, even though we are seeing very slow, if any, recovery of the markets.
