Also...I stumbled upon a 1955 Two Shillings coin. I did a google search on it, and it actually lead me to this forum but about a 1 shilling coin. Does the 2 shilling have any silver in it?
The GB 1955 2 shilling (called a florin in the old country) is a copper-nickel coin. The 50% SILVER GB florins were replaced by copper-nickel coins in 1947. Pre-1947 GB 3p, 6p, 1sh, 2sh, and 1/2 crowns, are the 50% SILVER GB coins. |

Thanks for the info...too bad it does not have silver in it, but I think it's a really cool looking coin anyway |

I'm going to guess you've got the 1988 50f (mintage 125,000), which is solid nickel and the size and color of a 50c piece. The 1988 100f (mintage 500,000) is a nickel-bronze composition. Interesting that a coin from the French Polynesia Pacific island ended up in your coin roll. |

The latest SILVER stats for June have been posted. Look to the first post of this thread to get the details. Always look to the line just before the Kitco quotes to see the last post that was included in the latest update. |

Well I had a very day for dimes. Here is the breakdown.
Bank #1 $500.00 CWR Produced 5 silver dimes. 1934 Merc. 1940-s Merc. 1944 Merc. 1944-d Merc. 1956-d Roosie
I weigh all my rolls before I open them so that I can separate the long and short rolls from the normal rolls. I can then determine if I will be short or long overall. One of the rolls I weighed came in way over weight. So I set it aside and finished the rest. I opened the one roll that was way overweight and it turned out to have 6 extra dimes in it. Of those 6 extra dimes 4 of them were the Mercury dimes. I was excited, that was the best roll of dimes for silver and being over I have ever had. In the end I wound up breaking even because I got 3 Canadian dimes one of which was a 1968 but it was not a silver one.
Bank #2 $250.00 CWR Produced 3 silver dimes 1962-d Roosie 1963-d Roosie 1964-d Roosie
Bank #3 $33.50 in Loose Halves: 3 40% halves 1968-d (2) 1969-d |
