I found one 1976 S penny in my searches last evening. Am I reading my Red Book correctly that this would be a proof penny?
Sadly, it isn't in good condition at all, but it would be cool to have bragging rights to finding a proof penny as this probably would be my first proof penny found through searches. Have found two proof nickels in the last couple of weeks, as well.
Thanks for any info.
Enjoy your coin searches, everyone.

That is pretty cool; did it still stick out because of the proof finish or did you just notice the "s"? |

It definitely didn't stand out for its proof finish. Can't see any resemblance to a proof coin except for the "S". That's why I asked to be certain. I thought it was, but as I am still learning this hobby, I wanted to be certain.
Now...my next "want to find" through my roll searches is an IH cent. IF they even exist in rolls here in Florida.
Enjoy your coin searches, everyone, and thanks for the congrats. |
