I tried, unsuccessfully, to sell or trade some through the forum. I see some occasionally get listed on E-Bay. Are you buying or selling? |

Did you look in the Wanting to trade/buy section? There is someone asking to buy them right now. |

I am currently working on a deal with someone in Canada (I'm in middle USA) to trade silver for Canadian nickels (all modern Beavers, none of the twelve sided ones). What a good Ni-Ag ratio? |

I would say $1 FV US (in silver) = 130 to 140 Canadian nickels (1955-1981)

By one dollar face value (US), you mean a typical one ounce silver coin, right? Like a Silver Eagle, Morgan, or Peace?

By 1$ FV I mean one dollar in pre-1965 silver coins; 1 x Morgan, 1 x Peace or 1$ combination of Roosevelts, Mercuries, Washingtons, Walkers, Franklins, JFKs, etc.

Glad you told me that. I suspected you were talking about the 90% silver dollars. I was gonna trade .999 silver. Pretty much the same stuff, but there is a slight difference. |

well.... one silver dollar has only .77 ASW(ounces of pure silver). That is almost a quarter of an ounce less than a .999 one ounce round. And one dollar of small silver coin(dimes, quarters or half dollars) only has .72 ASW of pure silver. More than a quarter ounce less than a .999 silver round. |

I've renegotiated with my buddy in Canada. He's agreed that we should go by the melt value of Canadian nickels on the Coinflation site and the Kitco spot value of pure silver. He's been buying silver off me for some time, so I simply suggested we start trading in nickels, and he agreed. He just started sorting bank rolls and I've just started nickel stacking. I appreciate all the good advice I'm getting here. |
