Eating a bag of sun chips the bag says it's 100% compostable! Cool.

It is a new thing they recently came out with. It is pretty cool, but a very noisy bag! (the crinkling sound when you open it or wad it up)

How long does the bag take to be compostable? If it takes weeks or longer to biodegrade, would people hold onto them that long??

Yep, they sure are. Definitely not a good midnight snack if there are light sleepers in the house.

Yeah, it wouldn't make them very, um, chipper.

I think it is about 14 weeks or so to completely biodegrade.

What process is best for it to biodegrade? Put it in with other compost scraps? Bury it in nutrient-rich soil? I'm intrigued by the possibilities, but I'm still pretty green (pun intended) in my knowledge of composting techniques and materials. What compounds would bags like this break down into first?

The back of the bag tells you to put it in your compost pile, and it will turn into compost. So if you have one in your yard, I would just throw it in that.
