There are two human traits that in many cases can be huge drivers in life that cause people in general to react or not react to the circumstances around them.
Those two motivational drivers are that of fear and greed!
I realize the word greed is a negative word and if that rubs you the wrong way then you might substitute the words "taking risk". But ultimately you have to ask what is a person’s inward motivation for taking that risk? Is having more, always better?
Yes, I realize, not all risk takers are greedy but how many of us have the answer to the question: How much is enough? Also, after giving that answer can you stick with it no matter how your situation might change i.e. for better or worse? Can you be satisfied in your own circumstances?
I think what always interesting is hearing stories of people who have won the lottery and what happens after they win. If a person was a butt hole before they will continue to be a butt hole. Also, if the person never learned to manage their own finances and live within their means then having more to spend will not ultimately solve any of their “problems”.
Lastly, does money motivate you or is it just a tool?

Just a tool. Compressed time. It is to be used.
Proverbs 30:8 Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.
9 Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, 'Who is the LORD ?' Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.
It is the LOVE of money that will ruin ya.
And I would add one to your list of motivators. Love is the most powerful of motivators, I believe it will trump fear and greed.

The silver [is] mine, and the gold [is] mine, saith the LORD of hosts. Hag 2:8 [/b] He created it. He controls it. He gave it to us for His use. Why did we turn from sound scriptural currency that PROTECTS us?

Ultimately,
The two main drivers of human behavior are pleasure and pain.
This is the reason mankind was given the Bible. So we have a tool to help us use our
freewill to override the two main drivers mentioned above. |

I see money as a means to an end... that end eventually being some time off. Don't ask me what I'll do with more time off, but it's always been a goal since I've always had to work. My Dad has passed away, but one thing he always taught me was "if you never do more work than what you get paid for, you'll never get paid more for the work that you do." It has provided motivation for me all of my life to try and go above and beyond (worked three jobs for eleven years, with usually only one day a month off). I guess this hobby draws all the obsessives, eh? ![](images/demo/icon_smile_tongue.gif) |
