I can't think of any valid reason for producing a silver-plated bar other than to decieve potential investors. You see from this guy's feedback that at least a few of his buyers feel they've been duped. Does anybody know how much 100 mills is in relation to a gram or an ounce?

I've noticed over past week or so that people are started to figure out the "1 gram coin" scam as a lot of those auctions seem to be ending without a bid.

Any guesses as to what they will do next?

A mill could mean 2 things.

It could be a mil, which is .001". However, 100 mils is 1/10" and that surely doesn't apply since he says that a "silver flash" is applied to the surface. The entire bar, itself, is likely about 1/10" thick.

I would guess that the term "mill" is short for a millionth of an inch thick (.000001"). Therefore, 100 mill would be .000100" thick. In plating terms, this thickness could be considered a "silver flash." One square inch of silver, 100 millionths of an inch thick, would weigh about .017 grams and this would be worth about $.01 - a penny. I don't know the number of square inches on that bar but I doubt that it's more than 5. If my assumptions are true, the total silver value of the bar would be about $.05 - a nickel.

This listing is very deceptive. I've been around plating for 40+ years and have never seen the term millionths of an inch written as "mill." It was obviously invented for confusion, just for these rip-off bars.

Concerning the one grain of Pd, there are 480 grains in a troy oz. Therefore, one grain weighs .002083 tr.oz and one grain of pure palladium would be worth about $1.09.
