Anyone get their boxes of halves from BOA? Asked while I was in there cashing a check and was told that they do not/will not order in coins. I was welcome to buy whatever rolls or loose halves they had on hand but I declined since I know they are on to the silver game. Anyway wondered if anyone was using BOA as a source for boxes of halves.

Thanks,

Jason

I am able to drop off whatever I need in bags at my BofA. I have tried boxes from BofA and they were all skunks. I'd avoid them.

Selling Copper cents. $0 FV available at 1.4xFV. Also interested in trading for wheat pennies and other coins Please pm me for requests or inquiries.

I am in the process of choosing source and dump banks in my new town. Went to the BofA today and chatted with their new accounts guy and he said all the coin the customers bring in gets sent to St. Louis on Friday and they process it there, then deposit it into the account. He said it usually takes about a week. Ooooof. But he did say that if I can handle that, they would do "however much I brought in, at no cost." I bet he's never talked to a Ryedale owner though... :) if I ever get one, he might be backing off those words a little, don't you think?

Some BoA branches tell me they are not allowed to order halfs. Other branches order them without question. One BoA branch briefly charged me a fee for each box, but dropped it when I agreed to pay and still ordered boxes. As to the "yield" from BoA boxes, I'd say they are the same as any other bank ---- poor, but not 0.

I figured it was probably just my branch that did not want to order the boxes. When I inquired they said they knew what I was looking for. Told me that they would never order in coin. I used to think that they were not allowed to "purchase" any coins that came in themselves but after talking to them today looks like they are allowed to as long as their tills come up correctly at the end of the day. They search rolls that are brought in so I had been wasting my time buying the rolls of halves they had whenever I came in. Been thinking about buying a box of halves to search and had hoped I could buy from BOA so I could dump at my other bank that has free coin counting. I will try another BOA branch and see....
BTW - I have brought in fairly large sums of loose change. They put it in a deposit bag and give you the receipt from the top. The coins are picked up once a week and taken to the main branch downtown. Depending on the day you drop off could be up to a week before you see them deposited into your account. Never had an issue with it so far.

If you can handle the turn around time on the deposit. I would say you found your new dump bank. I would pick up a box of halves somewhere and then re-wrap them and return them to the BofA. Let them sort through your dumped rolls..

That's what I do to the branches that I know sort through all the change to pull silver.

I'm using BOA for my halves pickup source. They tell you different things at different branches, just depends if the teller is trying to discourage you from bugging them. I had one dump branch tell me that I would have to start depositing my returns instead of getting cash, but the next day, different teller gives me cash. They don't even ask me to swipe my card anymore, they all know me by name (Cheers )

Hoard now and hold on!

BoA is one of my pickup banks. They will order halves for me in "any" amount (she said the most she can do is $8000 at a time). I dump at a credit union, so BoA (any branch) is strictly pickups
