I opened all the rolls in four boxes of dimes I got on Wednesday during the day today. I didn't find any more SILVERs, but I found the following clads in these boxes (in addition to the 3 SILVER Roosevelts found previously):
171 2010-P dimes 1 2010-D dime 6 2009-P dimes 1 2009-D dime
The 2010-P dimes may have been distributed in quantity in my area recently. |

WELCOME!!
What state do you find your SILVERs?
I'm going to estimate that you searched $50 in dimes and $50 in quarters.
In your future posts, please tell me exactly how many dollars worth of each denomination you searched. Thanks. |

I was playing a nickel slot machine, and while shoving five cent pieces into its mouth found 2 silver war nickels- a 1944-P and a 1945-P. I had bought $20 of rolled nickels to gamble with at this machine. No luck at the machine, but at least I walked away with a small amout of silver! |

Time for the month-end reports. May was bizarre. Halves were TERRIBLE, dimes were AWESOME and I even sorted three boxes of nickels (with a little success!!!). I'll start with a report on the nickels I searched in May...
Total $300 Nickels (3 boxes).
Found (2) War Nickels - 42P & 44P Found (1) Buffalo Nickel - We think it is 1929, but honestly it is tough to tell for certain. Found (2) Canadian CuNi - 83 & 85 Found (1) Proof - Very nice 1964 w/ minimal hairlines/contact marks. Found (1) LARGE Plastic Penny - Description: SCHOOL MONEY over Lincoln's head, an = sign in place of date. Total (101) pre 1960 nickels (nothing special here).
Box breakdowns -

5/27/10 - $500.00 - CWI box (no date/facility stamp...059 stamp)
(1) NIFC - 03P
5/27/10 - $500.00 - CWI box (no date/facility stamp...059 stamp)
(1) NIFC - 06P
All in all that's a lot of work for only 9 silvers (8 being 40%) and a small handful of NIFCs/Clad Proofs/Foreign. We'll chalk it up as a tough month and just wait for some nice boxes to find their way into our town.
Report on dimes later on this evening. My brother and I had a tremendous month on silver dimes including one really nice bag, numerous Mercs and of all things some silver Canadians, one of which was a 1940 King George VI. Details later after we finish opening the last box and a half which we picked up on Saturday.
Take care,
Jeff |

Report on dimes searched in May.
My brother and I had an absolutely fantastic month with dimes, the mirror opposite of how we did on halves!!! The month opened with a $500 bag which yielded (16) silvers, (5) of which were Mercs. Normally our $500 bags yield 4-5 silvers. This bag was STRANGE. We found 4 silvers that looked like the normal silver-edged coins we are all accustomed to finding. The other 12 silvers in the bag were all very dark with black edges. I know very little about metal detecting, but I have a feeling that these 12 dimes might have been dug from the ground at one time or another. Why they ended up getting counted at the bank is anyone's guess...We also ended up finding an additional (7) Mercs during the month and (4) Canadian silver dimes, including a 1940 King George VI!!! It definitely was a good month for dimes!!!
$6,750.10 Dimes (23 boxes and 2-$500 bags plus 1 silver dime from gas station automatic change machine).
Total silvers: 76 (60 Roos, 12 Mercs, 4 Canadian Ag).

5/1/10 - $250.00 - (2) Roos - 63D, 64D
5/1/10 - $250.00 - (4) Roos - 46, 59, 60D, 61D
5/8/10 - $250.00 - S K U N K
5/8/10 - $250.00 - (3) Roos - 51, 57, 64D
5/8/10 - $250.00 - (1) Roos - 63D ; (1) 80% Ag Canadian - 55
5/8/10 - $250.00 - (2) Mercs - (2)43 ; (4) Roos - 53D, (3)64D NICE BOX!!!

5/15/10 - $250.00 - (2) Roos - 46, 51 ; (2) 80% Ag Canadian - 40 (K.G. VI), 61 ; 1973 Mexico 5 centavos
5/16/10 - Brother spotted a silver dime in Speedway (gas station) automatic change machine...checker extracted it and per our luck this month it turned out to be a 1942 Mercury Dime!!!
5/18/10 - $250.00 - (4) Roos - 46, 53D, 62D, 64D ; 2004 East Caribbean States 10 cents
5/20/10 - $250.00 - S K U N K

5/20/10 - $250.00 - (3) Roos - 52D, 57D, 64D ; 1990 Great Britain 5 Pence

5/27/10 - $250.00 - (2) Roos - 47S, 57
5/28/10 - $250.00 - (1) Roos - 64D
5/29/10 - $250.00 - S K U N K
5/29/10 - $250.00 - (3) Roos - 59, 61, 61D ; 1995 Great Britain 5 Pence
5/29/10 - $250.00 - S K U N K
Also of note this month -- the 2009 dimes (primarily D's, a few P's) have finally started to show up. I have pulled approximately ~100 in the 2nd half of this month. I look at as many new dimes in the rolls that I can (bright orange edges)...it is in this manner that I located the 1989-S Clad Proof. No 2010 dimes yet...Country has the market on those!!!
Good luck to all searching in June!!!
