this is my first post here, and its prolly just because im so angry today. i have been watching you guys talk about % of copper still in circulation for almost a year, and sorting only about a box a week for for a few months.
well, my wife and i came home & our housekeeper startled us, by coming out of the swimming pool room. she was not scheduled to be here at all...but shes been around a while, so we didnt think much of it.
she said she was trying to get in & use the phone, because her car had broke down. she asked if she could have a ride back to her car, and someone was waiting on her there.
well, as we were driving, i hit the brakes for some reason, and her purse fell over & i heard a crapload of change fall out in the rear floorboard. i glanced back to see her scooping it back in, and i could tell right then, it was all copper.
i dont know why i didnt say anything right then - i knew for almost certain it was my stuff, but i guess i figured she prolly didnt take much anyway. so, on the way back im telling my wife that i am certain the change that came out of her purse was copper, and discussing what should we do about it...
well, as soon as we got home, i went out in the pool room, where i have a electric smelting setup, for obvious reasons. -ALMOST ALL my copper pennies were gone!!
now, that bitch did have a huge purse, but holy cow!, she musta had 45lbs of copper in there at least!
anyway. the good news is, she is fired, and im getting a ryedale this week to help me catch up.
thanks for listening. -dennis

| That stinks! I've always thought that one of the advantages to this hobby would be that the ordinary thief wouldn't be that interested in stealing a bunch of heavy copper coins. I guess this proves me wrong. Maybe I need to look for a better hiding place. |

Sorry to hear about your loss K1rby, but better for her to steal your pennies than your identity (that would be a real punch in the gut.) To be on the safe side, contact Experian, Transunion or Equifax and see about checking your credit report, you and your wife.
Better for the loss to be small than large, though it still stings, and stinks.
Even penny candies sell for a quarter nowadays. Inflation, bah humbug. |

| I wish we still had copper coins here in Australia.... All 1 and 2 cent coins were withdrawn here in 1991 :-( |
