I picked up 16 bags of pennies today. I also Got 6 silver dimes the teller told me she saw some on the ends of that batch so I had to buy them. I went back and bought the rest of the halfs I knew a bank had but I ran out of money when I was there before.I only found 2 40%'s I had found 38 40%'s and 3 90%'s in the ones before.
I Spotted a 1903 vf Ih in one of the bags I cut it out and Taped back up...LOL
I have 24 Boxes comming in tomarrow. I found a New place to buy from and that has a lobby coin counter the first of the kind ive seen around here. They had 7 bags :) Im going there every week...

Im using a 3 step method on my Reydale Its so much faster it save me 70% time over the 2 step method.

You know when you start hauling around that many bags it can affect your gas mileage. What kind of car you tossing all these into.. that is a pretty big load.
Please elaborate on this new 3 step method with the Ryedale to save time.
If your percentages are low.. just sort more.

LOL Not a good car for halling a 300m special Sits very low to the ground. I went one direction and picked up half then dropped them off at home. Then went another direction and go the rest.
The 3 step method. Run a High Sentive Zinc Sort First. Then Run a Copper Sort. Then run a Zinc Resort to get the older Coppers out. If your Getting 30% copper then your Saving around 70% of the coins Ran.

What I still don't understand is how you get all the wheats out? I understand that some of the wheats come out because of the tin, but don't you have to eventually eye sort the coppers? Or do you just not worry about the all wheats?
If you are eye sorting for wheats anyway, why not just take out the zincs in one step and then eye sort the coppers for wheats, canadians, and foreign coins? |

Yea We still sort the wheats and foreign coins out. I got a deal worked out with my dad He sorts the wheats out and return zinc and I pick coins up and run them.I got the Easy end of the deal :) the first run of the coins the keepers are Ready to be bagged up and taken back. The second run Takes all the good coppers and newer wheats out. The Third run takes out all the wheats and Foreign coins out.
Much Faster .... I was Skeptical at first but Tried it and its so much nicer.

I've been using the "High Sensitivity, Zinc, First Pass" for a little while now....and love it!....a great time saver: For Clarification:
First Sort = Zinc Standard, about 50% of Sensitivity. From this pass, you get Zincs that can be returned immediately. You also get Coppers (including common, newer "wheats" and also older "tin wheats") there is also a little bit of Zinc in these coppers.
Second Sort = Modern 1981 Copper Standard, lowest sensitivity. Re-Run the "Coppers" from First Sort. This produces 2 outputs: Copper with Common Wheats.....and the second output.....Everything Else (Zincs, Foreigns, Older Tin Wheats, Funky 70's Coppers, etc). I just bag the coppers + common wheats......do not hand sort for common wheats.
Third Sort = "Zinc Resort" = Zinc Standard + less than 50% sensitivity....like 30% sensitivity. Lots of recycling of this this lot until nearly all the zincs are removed....the remaining coppers have the interesting older wheats....these must be hand sorted out...but you are now down to a hand full of coins.
M41/1USMI:US1Cu415000,CA1Cu328000,CA5Ni35000....total Cu = 742,000. |
