I recently was given a microwave that had been in a fire. I was able to get the transformer from it,but the copper wire has been turned black from the fire. Is there anything I can soak it in to get the smoke damage off?

Why? Just clean the copper from the steel core. Scrapyard will not care if the wire is black from a fire, in fact, out here in the midwest, that's how most the guys clean their copper, by fire. |

They might lower #1 to #2 price if it is burnt depends on scrap yard they will take it. I personally have burnt a LOT of wire |
Selling Ryedale sorted USA cents 1.5 each + shipping over 500fv 1.5 each +1/2 shipping If you pick up 1.35 each located MT/ND boarder. after Ryedale sorting they are hand sorted to remove canadian then rechecked with Ryedale to insure all copper and count out $50 FV then placed in cloth bags and sealed with #1 copper wire. |

Not a problem here either, in fact that is how the yards themselves "clean" the insulated wire that gets brought in. |

The wire wasn't insulated wire,it's already bare, but nows it black from the smoke. I am new to this so I wasn't sure if it would still be accepted if it wasn't clean/copper color. I thought since it was burnt it might be considered dirty copper. |
